Why is "Mehr" so TRIGGERING?!!!
She said her mahr is the whole Quran. The comments went crazy. 👀 And honestly? I get both sides. Because every time mahr comes up, a guy says a number, a girl says a number — everyone picks a side and nobody actually asks why they're so triggered by it. 😭 This episode doesn't tell you who's right or wrong. It goes deeper than that. Like… what is that number actually representing to you? Safety? Fear? A test of his sincerity? Because sis, it's probably not really about the number at all. 😔 And then she drops what the Prophet ﷺ actually paid for his own daughters. That part alone is worth the listen. 🤍 Go listen and come back and tell me — which side of the comment section were YOU on? 👇 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LH2YGCohtI&t=4s

I think both sides are ridiculous honestly. From my understanding, mahr should be representative of what the person makes and can afford and should be fair to the women. So even having the conversation before there’s anything serious going on is so ridiculous to me. I remember being asked when I first started talking to someone and the question through me off. Like at the very beginning of getting to know this person, I don’t have enough to even go on and then you spend more time judging the person than getting to understand if you’re even a right fit. I understand that it’s a hot topic but imagine being judged on something so individualistic and case by case before giving the person a chance. Lowkey if I think of the people I met, the “number” goes up and down depending on the person for various reasons but the most important reason is that Mahr shouldn’t be exorbitant. Yes the fear of safety and security is very real, but I feel if you meet someone who fits your criteria anyway, the Mahr wouldn’t be a thing. Part of the problem I feel is that it’s discussed pre-maturely without a real person in mind. Like the guy saying 30k if she’s worth it, brother I hope you never get married if you don’t think she’s worth it, like what?

Also, for anyone who’s not aware, Salams is owned by a z!0nist. The company was quietly sold 2yrs ago and I’m surprised that people in our community still use it. If you find one, do share. Super again the idea of paying for all these apps and events

Apps are not my favorite. Lots of people on there aren’t serious. If I ever go back, the one thing I’ll be doing is asking anyone I match with if they’re willing to contact me wali and take the conversation offline. Otherwise I’ve honestly found that people are just not serious. The other thing is, people (both genders) are talking to multiple people at a time and that can get overwhelming. There’s a sense that what if I keep swiping and eventually find someone better. That’s the problem with the apps and why I would rather take the conversation offline from the beginning. In hopes that if family is involved from the beginning, it reduces the chances of someone not being serious. Doesn’t mean they’re a match, but just how I’m trying to protect myself while on these apps
Women's Conference
I attended Jannah Institute's women retreat a few weeks ago and wanted to share a few reflections. The theme was Single, Married, Divorced: 4 seasons of life so felt appropriate to share here. Lesson 1: Make your first love Allah. Like have we genuinely spent time not only getting to know Allah but making him our first love? And it dawned on me that I haven't. Lesson 2: We tend to get closer to Allah in order to get the means (marriage, career, children, etc.) but have we ever prayed to Allah to have the means be our gateway to Jannah? This one blew my mind because I don't think I quite saw things this way. When we are focused on doing everything for the sake of Allah and getting closer to him for the sake of our akhira, it shifts the focus away from what we don't have and to how to use what we have right now to please Allah. Lesson 3: Be content with where you are and strive for the cause of Allah! How are we striving for his sake with what we've been given today, not what we're lacking, but where we are right now. This isn't to discount the wanting to get married, but in the mean time, what are we doing with our time, energy, focus? Lesson 4: Just because we do everything right, it doesn't mean divorce will be avoided. We have to vet and then take a leap of faith. Many women fear divorce and it is a very hard thing to go through. But we shouldn't avoid getting married out of fear that we might end up getting divorced. We have to learn to accept Allah's decree as he knows best. The day was filled with so many gems. I just wanted to share my reflections without making it too long in case this supports anyone while in this phase of life.

Apps vs. Libraries: Where are the reserved, ambitious men hiding?
High-Value Traits & Love Language - The Personality: Quiet, highly disciplined, reserved, and extremely calm under pressure. He is an introvert who doesn't need to be the center of attention but is deeply protective and reliable. - The Career & Drive: Highly ambitious, educated, and established in a demanding, intellectual profession (such as medicine, surgery, law, or advanced research). - The Love Language (Acts of Service & Quality Time): He is not a smooth talker or someone who uses loud, flashy romantic gestures. Instead, he shows love by anticipating your practical needs, taking care of you when you are tired or sick, and offering steady, unwavering support. When he gives you his time, it is fully focused, deeply present, and private. i really want a husband like this how do i go about finding man like this

You make du’a for Allah to guide you on what’s best for you. Whether it’s libraries or apps, it all comes down to you knowing how to ask questions, having your family involved and expressing to them what you’re looking for, and the rest is du’a for Allah to guide and facilitate this for you. Regarding the love language.. no matter who you’re with, you will have to communicate with them how you want to be loved. Even if his love language is acts of service, it doesn’t mean he’ll know how to love you in the way you want
