A New Skill Added to the Journey 🎨
I finally took the plunge and varnished one of my oil paintings… and I have to admit, I really enjoyed it! 🙈✨ It’s my very first time varnishing an oil painting, so there are definitely things I’ll do differently next time, but that’s all part of the learning, isn’t it? 🙈❤️ I love that no matter how long you’ve been creating, there’s always something new to discover. Every painting teaches us something, and every new skill adds another little brushstroke to the journey. Here’s to trying new things, embracing the imperfections, and becoming a little better each time. 💜🎨

A Little Pocket of Inspiration 🌿📸
I completely fell in love with Heligan Gardens. There’s something so wonderfully untamed about the place. It doesn’t feel like a garden that’s trying to impress you… it simply invites you to slow down and notice. 🫶🏻💜 As someone who always has a camera in hand, it felt like a dream. Every turn revealed another photograph waiting to happen. Light filtering through giant leaves, tiny birds appearing at just the right moment, reflections dancing across ponds, and flowers glowing in the summer sunshine. It genuinely felt as though nature was saying, “Here, have another beautiful moment.” 🙌🏻❤️ I came away with a memory card full of photographs, but more importantly, a mind full of inspiration. Places like this remind me that creativity doesn’t always come from making something. Sometimes it comes from wandering, looking a little closer, and letting the world surprise you. 🤔 Have you ever visited somewhere that completely filled your creative cup? I’d love to hear where it was. 💚📷🌿

🎨 New YouTube Video! My walkabout in the National Gallery London 🥳
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your creativity is simply spend time around great art. 🙌🏻 I took myself on an artist date to the National Gallery in London, where I wandered through rooms filled with paintings I’ve admired for years. Seeing works by Turner, Holbein, Seurat and Delaroche in person is such a different experience to seeing them in books or online. You notice the brushstrokes, the textures, the colours… and the stories hidden within them. One of the things I love most about artist dates is that they remind us we don’t have to create every day to grow as artists. Sometimes the most important part of the creative process is observing, being curious, and allowing yourself to be inspired. ❤️😍 If you’ve ever wondered how to “read” a painting or you’re looking for a little creative spark, I hope you’ll enjoy coming along with me. 🎥 The video is live now ! 🥳 https://youtu.be/CKKnYs0a5EE?is=sXjwH4afGwem9HRr I’d love to know which painting you would stand in front of for just a little longer. 💜 Kate

@Kate Bullock My video skills are nonexistent, so for me it's awesome! 😍
The Conductor of Colour 🎨
Sometimes I think the sky is an orchestra, and colour is its music. 🌈 The sun stands just beyond the horizon, lifting a silent baton, and every cloud waits for its cue. Gold hums into amber. Amber swells into crimson. Violet quietly slips between the notes until the whole sky is singing. 🎶🌈 Nature doesn’t rush its masterpiece. It doesn’t wonder if the colours work together or whether someone will approve. It simply creates, boldly, instinctively, beautifully. Maybe that’s something we can learn as artists. We don’t always need to control every brushstroke. Sometimes our job is simply to become the conductor of colour… to listen, to respond, and to let the painting find its own rhythm. 🙌🏻👏🏻 Last night’s sky reminded me that the greatest palettes have always belonged to nature. We are just lucky enough to borrow them for a little while. 🌅✨
