Q+A - What’s your Biggest Struggle RIGHT NOW?
Last time I asked this the answer was TIME! - I don’t have enough… - How do I use it best? - What do I practice with my time? - etc… So, I made the Perfect Practice Planner - a 20 page ebook guiding you through doing more with less time, by using a song you love to focus everything. So…let me know you’r biggest struggle right now, so I can make more tools to help you reach your guitar goals 😊 AND comment “lesson” below if you’d like details on getting a FREE 1-on-1 lesson where I walk you through how to use the guide (and an 80% discount on the guide) and create YOUR perfect practice plan.

Asus2, Esus4 and Dsus2 and sus4. They just add a bright ring to a piece of music.

CAPO Friend or Foe?
Hey everyone, It's late, and of course, I'm up thinking about guitar. I know capos can be a bit controversial in the guitar world. Some people see them as a crutch, but honestly, I think they can be one of the most useful tools in your arsenal. Why? Because they open up the fretboard in ways you might not expect. They let you play in different keys without needing a master's degree in music theory, and they can unlock some beautiful, ringing voicing that are otherwise hard to reach. Plus, if you ever find yourself playing with other musicians, a capo can be a lifesaver for matching keys or adding texture to a song. It's not about avoiding hard chords. It's about giving yourself options and expanding what you can create. So if you've been holding back on using a capo, consider this your permission to grab one and experiment a little. You might be surprised by what you find. Keep strumming, Jake G. P.S. Here's my favorite PRO level CAPO secret (shh don't tell anyone 😂)

Definitely a friend. Without it you just couldn't play some songs because you'd have to play chords that would be impossible to play. With a capo you just place it on the fret required and you can play the impossible tune quite easily because you are playing mainly open chords with a few barres.
Worst Advice You've Ever Heard?
So this one will be fun. I want to know what's the worst advice you've ever received on guitar? For me I spent 3 years trying to play with the tip of my thumb in the back of the neck. I forget the guys name but he swore it would help with dexterity and reaching all over the neck. And let me tell you... absolute worst advice ever. Not only did I waste years on a technique that didn't help at all, I'm pretty sure my thumb is damaged for life.😂 So I want to hear yours, let's spread the word, debunk the lies, and who knows maybe you'll save someones thumb. Keep Strumming, Jake G.

Don't try to learn fingerpicking until you become an accomplished guitarist. Biggest load of crap I've ever come across. I've been playing for nearly 45 years and im struggling to now learn fingerpicking. If I'd learned it as a 14/15 years old I'd have picked it up easily and now at almost 59 im struggling with the concept.
