Today, our amazing little girl growers are learning how to plant watermelon—a sweet, juicy fruit that starts as something so small you could almost miss it! 👩🏾‍🌾✨ First, we wiggle our fingers into the warm, soft soil—squish, squish! That’s how we prepare a cozy bed for our seeds.Next, we gently place each watermelon seed into the ground, like tucking a baby into bed. “Sleep well, little seed,” the girls whisper. 🌙 💧 Then comes a splash of water—not too much, not too little! Just enough to help the seed wake up and begin its journey. ☀️ With sunshine hugs and daily care, our seeds will stretch, sprout, and grow into long green vines. And guess what? Those vines will one day carry big, round, stripy watermelons—perfect for sharing! I “chaos” sowed wildflower seeds in the fall and this is where we are today. Giddy up! 🥳🥳🥳 So far, the arroyo lupine are only ones blooming, but it’s all so bushy and big! Many of you know that I got into worms before i got into soil biology and then Living Soil. Well here was my first GIANT experiment to see if Living Soil is a real thing ❗❗ SPOILER ALERT ❗❗ It works great! Here were the goals: 1. Get raised beds to grow plants 2. Turn brown grass to green 3. Add 200 sqft of new grass 4. Interplant veggies, fruits, flowers and trees This was a huge undertaking for 1 person that started in Nov 2024.
