Violin and fiddle in a public live stream session
Here in the Jazz Violin Academy I do not need to advocate the broad musical possibilities of the violin in diverse musical contexts. Nevertheless one does not hear everyday a violin playing in unison with a trumpet, a sax or an accordion. It is also interesting to watch the different playing styles. The recording is, as always, completely unedited https://www.jacktrip.com/recordings/GIbmMEjYolwc88fo8YlSl
Workshops
I am going to attend 3 gypsy jazz workshops this year. Valencia is my first one in 2026. Since 2022 I attend at least one per year. What is common to all of these is that one spends several days with likeminded people from many walks of life. It is a bit like living in a bubble. One gets inspired, stimulated and then its is over until the next workshop. I always thought it would be nice if we could extend the experience beyond these blessed days and do more together than chatting on WhatsApp. We can, indeed. The online jams are just that. With fast internet and some basic equipment we can continue making music together. There is a classroom about this subject and even an entire SKOOL community. Interested? Reach out.

@Octavio Pardos , reconciling family life and music can be challenging at times. With online jams you have the advantage that you do not need to leave home and it does not cost you anything once you have your setup together.
Public live stream online jam session
On Wednesday 29 April 2026 at 20.00 Paris time we do it again. You can watch @Ann Vancoillie from her home in Belgium, a singer at his home in NYC, 4 other musicians, each from his home in Spain, Italy, France and Germany and myself playing and improvising over a dozen well known jazz standards. https://www.jacktrip.com/@5QVSfiEohpqJO6mdu3wJ5 You can watch us in real-time while it happens. It is still very much work in progress but so enjoyable. With some basic equipment and a fast internet access anybody who dares could do that. It is all about bringing our lonely practice to life in an ensemble setting.

EASY WINNERS (1901)

Sounds nice. If you experiment with less reverb your sound would be less distant and would blend better with the backing track. It may be counter intuitive but worth the experiment.
PENT-UP HOUSE (SONNY ROLLINS 1956)

Nice, Octavio. We had this tune for a while in my online jam sessions and it will come back for sure. We always have some bebop tunes but also modal, rhythm changes, blues and other standards. You can watch and listen to our unedited session recordings in my Online Jam SKOOL. I trust this could be something for you to participate in. https://www.skool.com/online-jam-6255/about
