As many of you know, my 87 yr old uncle gave me his watches as he only wears an Apple Watch these days and knew that I loved watches specifically the history and being an heirloom to pass on for generations. I have also taken a couple of watch repair classes and have started to set up a hobby area for me to get deeper into it as I would love to maintain these wonderful pieces of history so that I can interact with them on a deeper level. I am by NO MEANS a watch maker of any kind. The work area looks great but my skills are at the near 0 level (as of now). I took this Seiko that my Uncle gave me and has been sitting in a drawer of his for at least 10yrs probably longer. I thought let's just take the back off and try changing the battery. (I'm confident enough for that). If I change the battery and it runs I consider it a win. If the movement needs to come out and get cleaned and serviced I will have to put it away again and wait until my skills and knowledge improve. The battery replacement went great and it is now running. Not sure about how the accuracy is but I'm taking the win! Next step is to put the bracelet into the Ultrasonic cleaner and get it all nice and shiny and then onto my wrist!! THIS is what I love about watches!! Family history and being a good steward for the next generation!! Have an OUTSTANDING Friday!!
