Left over Bread
I often buy hot cross buns, occasionally raisin loaf and on some occasions it just gets thrown out eventually. Sometimes I remember and make Biscotti, a poor mans alternative to "lekker" rusks, or I make bread pudding or Irish Tea Loaf. Today, I found a forgotten raisin loaf in the fridge, and it was still okay with no mould or rancid smells so I shredded it and poured boiling and strong Rooibos tea over. I added sultanas and coconut and sugar, mixed spice, 2 eggs and mixed in all together. Its delicious, I have baked 1 loaf for eating and the second lot in a shallow tray which will be baked and turned into Biscotti rusks. Here is a recipe for those who prefer not to waste food.

@Pat Van Schalkwyk Any dried cakes or sweet buns are called Biscotti in Europe.
Yoh! The weather 😳
People, it's raining cats and dogs down here.... Or should I say water, ice and snow. It's flipping freezing and wet. Even the skapies in their woollen coats are shivering. Lots of rain in the south east of our beautiful land and lots of damage too. Even closed the schools in PE for two days. It's a day for fires and old brown but here on the Sunshine Coast and Garden Route we don't even own fireplaces or scarves. Hold on to your anoraks, okes, it's hectic.

I still remember 1968 and 1981... first as a child living in Walmer and the second on a visit from Joburg. There used to be a pair of Mute Swans living in the park, they lost their lives in the 1968 flood along with 8 other people. We were playing over the river and my brother fell in, a girl named Faye Thuissen pulled my brother out by his hair, I still cringe when I think what would have happened if she were not there. (Her dad was the principal of the Chinese school)
🌧️ South Africa is taking strain under extreme weather this week
Heavy rains, flooding, and storms have already claimed at least four lives between 5–7 May, with warnings at Level 6–8 across several provinces. Four lives claimed so far of which one a 12-year-old child. Aditional reports suggest more casualties as conditions worsen. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is urging everyone to stay safe. Avoid flooded roads, stay indoors where possible, and prepare for more rain through Thursday. 🚸 Schools in several areas have already been closed as a precaution, and communities are bracing for further disruptions. 🌧️ 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 (𝟳 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲) - 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹: Up to 100–200mm in 24 hours in parts of the Western and Eastern Cape. - 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀: Severe thunderstorms with hail, damaging winds, and lightning expected inland. - 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝘄: Possible in high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape and Western Cape. - 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁: Temperatures dropping sharply, adding risk of burst water pipes and livestock losses. This isn’t just about the weather fam, it’s about keeping each other safe. Share how things look in your area, any local closures, or tips for coping with the storms. Together we can stay informed and support one another. Stay safe! 🙏

My mum is in Capetown, she said it was not pleasant, however I think they missed the brunt of the front.
Remember to fill up!!
South Africa, this is your last call to fill up before tomorrow hits. ⛽💥 Tomorrow, 6 May, fuel prices take a sharp climb. Petrol 93 & 95: +R3.27 per litre (around R26.52–R26.63 inland) Diesel (0.05% & 0.005%): +R6.19 per litre (around R32.30 inland, R31.54 coastal) Diesel is starting to feel like a luxury item, and petrol might just ask for your payslip at the pump. So tell me… are you filling up tonight, or are you just going to start practicing your marathon legs tomorrow? 🏃‍♂️⛽😂 https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fTriwB7oC6M

@Christo Kriegler yes, I have a feeling that petrol will not be obsolete soon and people will pay whatever they need to.
