I don't know about you guys but I've recently become more and more frustrated with Maxon.
I think it began with being faced with licensing issues and insane yearly subscription fees, particularly coming from a student licence (which they have messed up completely).
I wanted to level up but also migrate software so i've been integrating houdini more and more and I love it!
For a fraction of the cost of a yearly Maxon licence you get an incredible piece of software that is fast, incredibly flexible and procedural.
Don't be afraid of Houdini - it is intimidating but start with the basics and download MOPS (mograph tools) and you'll be well on your way.
This is part of a larger piece im working on.
