Overstimulation is ruining your life
According to a study, college students spend 8–10 hours a day on their phones. This does not include time spent on other devices like laptops, computers, tablets, or televisions. - 8–10 years old: Six hours - 11–14 years old: Nine hours - 15–18 years old: Seven and a half hours That's over 3 months wasted in 2023. Looking at screens. Think about it. More than 3 to 4 months continuously you spent sating at your phone. Think about what else you could have achieved in that time. If you read 30 min or 1 hour every day instead you'd finish more than 4 -5 books in that time You'd still have more than 5-6 hours a day left, Of course, you need to reply to a text or search for something. Let's say you take 2 hours. You'd still have 3 hours a day, that's more than 45 days or 1095 hours to be precise. Of course, it looks obvious when I break it down like that. And I'll be honest I am also guilty of wasting my time, and I am still trying to optimise where I spend my time. I think for most of us it's important to just be aware we are wasting so much time. Comment your daily phone usage and set a goal for next week. My average is 5 hours and 20 min a day! I know I am guilty of spending a good chunk of it scrolling while telling myself I am researching or finding something educational. When I am only overstimulating my self. I'll try to decrease it by 30 min this week then continue reducing it until I have optimised my time on my phone.
What is your lowest point in your life
I remember it was early May 2020 lockdown my dad and brother contracted covid. I had to sleep and basically live in the sitting room, lower floor while all the other members including mom lived on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Kitchen was in the 2 ND floor so mom slept in the kitchen. I was alone by myself. I had almost 0 close friends who'd text me everyday. All I had was my phone, books, weights and football. I'd wake up at 5am Read for 30 min. Drink black coffee and a banana. All the fields were closed so I'd shift the sofa and do drills on the wall, for a good 1 hours and I'd weight train. Then I'd shower and do my classes. After my classes I'd study and watch self improvement videos and football highlights. I'd sleep sometimes crying because I was so lonely. Sometimes I felt if life was worth living. My family was at mess, my mom was so stressed. My dad got into depression. My brother too, he was just 13 years old then. I remember I read can't hurt me by David Goggins and it changed my view on life. How lucky I was to have what I have and I was forever grateful. I'll leave you with this quote " pain is inevitable, suffering is a choice" Share your story to inspire others.
