Daily Reflection | Forgiveness Frees You Too
Someone said something that still stings, or did something you haven't let go of — and carrying it around is heavier than you realized.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." — Ephesians 4:32
Notice the order in that verse. God didn't wait for you to earn forgiveness before He gave it — and He isn't asking you to wait for the other person to deserve yours either. Forgiveness isn't saying what happened was okay. It's deciding you won't keep paying for it every day by holding on. The grudge you're protecting is usually costing you more than it's costing them.
Your move today: think of one person you've been holding something against, and take one small step toward releasing it — even if that's just praying, "God, help me let this go," and meaning it. You don't have to see them today. You just have to stop carrying them.
Forgiveness doesn't erase what happened. It just stops it from running your life.
