괜찮아 doesn't always mean "I'm okay" 🇰🇷
Today's word is one you'll hear every single day in Korea.
괜찮아 (gwaenchana) = "it's okay / I'm okay"
But Koreans use it in 4 different ways:
  1. 괜찮아! (bright, smiling) → I'm fine, really.
  2. …괜찮아. (short, looking away) → I'm NOT fine. Ask me again.
  3. 아니야, 괜찮아 괜찮아. (waving hands) → No thanks, I'm good.
  4. 괜찮아, 그럴 수 있지. (gentle) → It's okay, it happens.
Same word. The tone does all the work.
💡 With people you don't know well, add 요: 괜찮아요 (gwaenchanayo)
✍️ Try it: your friend spills coffee on your shirt and keeps apologizing. What do you say in Korean?
Write it below and I'll check every answer 👇
