I’m often asked how I started writing, and I love sharing this story because it proves something important: writers don’t start confidently; they start curious.
I grew up on Long Island, one of seven kids, shy and quiet. When you feel invisible, you learn to listen to your imagination. Mine was loud. I lived in pretend worlds and fell in love with stories long before I called myself a writer.
Like many people, I thought writing had to make way for a “real” career. I earned a degree in business and legal studies, but stories never let go of me.
Years later, my son Steven asked to stay up late. I told him he could read or write, that's it. One night, he suggested we write stories. That was the night Samantha Parker was born, and before I knew it, I had written the first book in my mystery series.
This community exists for anyone who feels unsure, stuck, or quietly hopeful. You don’t need confidence or experience, just curiosity.
