What is GEO?
First off it standf for Generative Engine Optimization. You have heard of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) right? Well, GEO is for AI engines to quote your site when it is asked a question. Think that is not important? When ChatGPT first came out, buisnesses were protecting their data from AI. Putting "No Crawl" html tags to stop them. Now you can take advantage of the boycott and get on the board.
Did you know that Google searches dropped 20% after ChatGPT was publicly launched? I NEVER thought google would loose out.
How?
- Define your brand/entity clearly
- Write content that answers real questions
- Use simple, plain language
- Create authoritative, explanatory content
- Be honest and include tradeoffs
- Earn third-party mentions and reviews
- Allow mixed sentiment to exist
- Make ideas clear and quotable
- Keep brand info consistent everywhere
- Optimize for βwhat is / is this legitβ queries
- Maintain a technically clean site
- Avoid fake, incentivized, or manipulated content
- Focus on reputation, not rankings
