The Love I Deserve
I have walked through too many storms
to settle for a love that feels like rain.
I have carried my own heart
through fire,
through loneliness,
through years no one else survived for me.
So I know what I deserve now.
I deserve a love
that doesn’t flinch at my scars,
a love that sees the battles I fought
and doesn’t mistake them for baggage.
A love that holds my truth
the way sunrise holds the horizon..
gentle, steady,
without fear.
I deserve someone
who doesn’t run from my strength,
someone who meets me eye to eye
and soul to soul,
who knows that soft women
are often made from the hardest wars.
I deserve hands
that protect,
not control.
A voice that comforts,
not wounds.
A heart that chooses me
not because I need saving,
but because I’ve already saved myself.
I deserve a love
that feels like home..
warm, safe,
without conditions.
A love that doesn’t dim my fire,
but sits beside it
and calls it beautiful.
And when that love comes
as sure as breath,
as sure as dawn..
it will recognize me instantly,
because only a soul that has also risen, will know how to love
a woman who survived everything and still believes in tenderness.
I deserve that love.
And it is finding its way to me.
