I've been using VidIQ "Research" feature and this subscription pays for itself
I'm basically only using the "Research" while creating my youtube channel to figure out if the video I have in my head actually has people searching for it, and exactly what string of words (keywords) they are actively searching for. (https://www.vidiq.com)
I think this is a pretty sick feature tbh - but it's not perfect! For context, I was building a version (using AI) of vidIQ before I realized this existed - so yeah.
Here's my breakdown of the 5 main tabs in the Research feature
- Keywords - I type in the keywords my supposed audience will type in and I can see which version of that keyword(s) are popular, how many people search these keywords monthly (search volume), and competition - high competition means other youtube creators are using these keywords in their titles to position the capture of these audiences.
- Videos - For these keywords, which videos - On Youtube - actually come up when searched. This is a hit or miss feature because your Youtube algorithm MIGHT return a different set of results so I have taken this as a grain of salt. Essentially, the idea is to see which videos rank highly when that keyword is used.
- Shorts - Same thing as Videos, but if you're wanting to create Shorts instead of long-form content videos, then you'd want to see which Shorts come up first here.
- Channels - Which youtube channels come up for the same keywords searched
- Thumbnails - How other creators are creating thumbnails that capture and hook audiences to watch their content. This is my fav feature because Thumbnails are pretty a science and you can dissect and learn a lot from this.
