Salah and Sabr.
Salah and sabr (patience) always go hand in hand. These acts are kabirah (physically overwhelming and heavy) for most people, except for those who possess:
1. Khushu‘ (خشوع) / Khashyah (خشية)
2. Zann (ظن)
Quran. (2: 45-46)
1. Khashyah
The basic meaning of khashyah is a practical, protective, and concrete caution driven by an expected danger (for example, avoiding physical harm or social disgrace through strategic choices).
2. Zann
The word zann carries two opposite meanings:
• a. Certainty (Mental / Yaqeen): Conviction triggered by visual signs, deep thought, or physical proximity.
• b. Suspicion (Emotional / Shakk): Doubt arising from personal bias or baseless assumptions.
☆The word zann in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 46, is used to mean certainty. Those who are certain of the Day of Judgment and the meeting with their Lord will definitely adopt practical, protective caution (salah and sabr) against the punishment of the Akhirah.
