🌊 When You’re the One Drowning (But Still Holding Everyone’s Floaties)
There’s a story that’s been haunting me — and healing me — all week.
A true one.
American swimmer Anita Álvarez was performing this stunning routine at the World Championships. The crowd went wild. The music stopped.
But she didn’t rise.
She started to sink — slowly, quietly — while the whole world kept cheering.
Only one person noticed.
Her coach.
She didn’t wait. She dove straight in — clothes, headset, dignity and all — and pulled Anita back to life.
And I thought:
…that’s motherhood.
…that’s wifehood.
…that’s daughterhood.
We’re out here performing Olympic-level emotional gymnastics while everyone’s still applauding like,
“Wow, she makes it look so easy!”
Meanwhile, we’re underwater holding our breath thinking,
“I actually might die down here.” 😅
But here’s the truth:
Sometimes it’s not heroics that save us.
It’s someone who sees us before we sink.
Someone who notices our silence beneath the applause.
So inside this sisterhood — let’s be that kind of village again.
💛 Be the one who sees.
💛 Be the one who dives in — even if your eyeliner runs.
💛 Be the one who says, “Girl, I’ve got you — breathe.”
And if you’re the one sinking right now — drop the floatie emoji 🛟🛟🛟
Let us see you. We’re pretty good swimmers. 😉
