One of the hardest parts of running a creative business is knowing when it's time to pivot.
Unfortunately, I've had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year's Write with Pride retreat. Only one person signed up, and while I was incredibly grateful for their support, it wasn't enough to make the event sustainable.
If I'm being honest, I've noticed a downward trend in writing retreat signups over the past year or so. I think a lot of people are feeling the impact of rising costs, busy schedules, burnout, and the many demands on our time and energy.
And while it's disappointing, I don't see this as a failure.
I see it as information.
Sometimes the path forward isn't doubling down on what's not working—it's listening, adapting, and trying something new.
That's true in writing. That's true in business. And honestly, that's true in life.
So instead of the retreat, I'll be hosting writing sprints on YouTube this Saturday. We'll still gather, write, encourage each other, and make progress on our projects—just in a format that feels more accessible right now. Sprints will be at 10 am CST.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my retreats, workshops, books, videos, and wild creative ideas over the years. Your support means more than you know.
Now let's pivot, adapt, and keep writing. ✨
Will I see you at the writing sprints on Saturday? 👇
