Canceling Last Minute
I used to get so excited when I said “yes” to an invitation. I'd imagine myself going, smiling, feeling confident, blending in with ease.
But when the day came, my chest would tighten, and the anxiety would start whispering: “You’re not ready. You’ll say something dumb. They’ll notice how nervous you are.”
An hour before the event, I'd be staring at my phone, typing and retyping a message to cancel. The relief I felt right after hitting send was almost addictive. But later, I'd feel disappointed in myself—not because I stayed home, but because I wanted to go... and fear won again.
Have you ever canceled plans due to anxiety? What would make showing up feel easier for you?
