The Rule of the Square ⬜️
When you're pushing your passed pawns in the endgame, it can sometimes be quite difficult to figure out whether your pawn will queen or if the opponents king is going to catch it. To simplify it for you, let's introduce the rule of the square. It's very easy to draw the square. Simply draw a line in your mind to the promotion rank. That's one of the sides of the square. If your opponents king is in said square, it will catch the pawn. If not, the pawn promotes.
