Caller Spoofing
Did you know that caller spoofing can be illegal in some states? A few years back, I got a call from a cybersecurity firm that looked like a local number calling. As I was chatting with the caller, I found out he was calling from California, I am in Texas. Then I started to ask him questions about the integrity of the company using a local number to solicit for business. Then I proceeded to tell him that is against the law in Texas to use spoofing to solicit in Texas. I then proceeded to report that company (because they called many times) to the Texas Attorney General online complaint form.
