Exercise of the week
“Banded contrast / overspeed release jumps”
The band resisted jumps increase neural drive and motor unit recruitment while also loading the Achilles and patellar tendon complex. Primes both the CNS and the elastic tissues
The results:
  • Higher rate of force development (RFD)
  • Better use of stored elastic energy
  • A strong intent and coordination carryover to normal jumping
This doesn’t really build strength or tendon capacity long-term by itself it improves EXPRESSION of power.
Works best for advanced/ experienced athletes, low volume, early in a session, or as a neural primer.
