Why Proverbs 20, May Be the Most Convicting Chapter You’ve Read All Month
You don’t rise to the level of your intentions. You fall to the level of your habits.
That’s not just a leadership cliché. It’s biblical. And few places expose that truth as clearly as Proverbs 20.
In tomorrow’s 12X Lab - Wisdom in Action, we’ll be walking through three critical verses from Proverbs 20 that every man, entrepreneur, parent, and professional must wrestle with. And we’ll explore what they reveal about your character, your choices, and your legacy.
But tonight, I encourage you to take 5 -10 minutes to read the chapter yourself. This is not poetry. It is protocol. These are not memory verses. They are marching orders.
Inside this chapter, you’ll find truths that confront how you live, how you lead, and how you labor:
“Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.”(Proverbs 20:11)
You can tell more about someone by how they act than by what they say. We may think our intentions define us, but the Scriptures make it clear - our works reveal who we truly are. And this is true from childhood.
“Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.”(Proverbs 20:13)
There is a direct connection between how you manage your mornings and whether you experience satisfaction or struggle. Poverty isn’t always the result of injustice. Sometimes, it’s the fruit of misplaced affection - a love for sleep, a refusal to rise, a failure to engage.
And when it comes to relationships, consider this sobering warning:
“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”(Proverbs 20:6–7)
It’s easy to talk a good game. Everyone wants to be seen as loyal, consistent, and spiritual. But the Scripture tells us that these men are rare. A faithful man - one who consistently walks in righteousness and does not bend under pressure - is hard to find. And yet, when that kind of man is found, his children inherit more than finances. They inherit a blessing.
These are the kinds of truths we’ll walk through tomorrow morning.
We’ll be unpacking:
- What it means to pursue self-mastery by examining the fruit of our habits (v.11)
- How diligence and discipline lead to daily provision and financial growth (v.13)
- Why faithfulness in relationships is more valuable than charisma or claims (v.6–7)
Each section will include Hebrew word studies, plain explanations, and practical application to your life, your business, your family, and your spiritual walk.
But there’s one more reason I hope you’ll be in the room…
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”(Proverbs 13:20)
You don’t become wise in isolation. You become wise by walking with the wise. That’s what this community is here for.
Inside the Proverbs 12X Skool group, you’ll find men and women learning how to grow in wisdom - not just in theory, but in action. Together, we’re building a new way of thinking, working, living, and leading.
This is your invitation to lean in.
Here are 12 ways walking with the wise multiplies your life:
- You receive correction without condemnation.
- You’re held accountable to live out what you know.
- You discover blind spots you didn’t see before.
