What to do after Friday's "rout" in markets
Whether you just heard about it on the news, or were watching it as it unfolded, Friday's drop in the stock and crypto markets was unprecedented...at least if you believe all of the headlines.
"Don't Panic", that is my recommendation if you were paying attention.
If you weren't, you didn't miss much.
How can I be so nonchalant? I am a student of history, and particularly market history.
Markets only do 1 of 2 things on a daily basis, and can seemingly be pushed one way or the other on a whim. Trust me: Friday was about much more than Trump throwing another 100% of tariffs on China, but none of those reasons concern me.
As an investor, it is easy to be caught up in the noise that is constantly bombarding us. But when you have a solid plan and a long-term goal, very, very little of that noise becomes an actual signal that matters to us.
So, follow the advice of the good book (that's the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) and let the noise pass over you like the wave of ratings grabbing it is, and stay the course.
I am curious: what is the headline that grabbed your attention this weekend??
