When Did You Feel the Call?
Family, welcome to The Black Root Exchange.
I want to open our first conversation with something simple, but powerful.
Many of us didn’t just find this path — at some point, we felt a pull.
Maybe it came through a grandmother who always knew things before they happened.
Maybe there was someone in your family who “worked the root,” prayed a certain way, or kept certain traditions alive.
Or maybe you weren’t raised in it at all, and rootwork, Hoodoo, or ancestral spirituality found you later in life — during a moment of crisis, healing, or awakening.
There’s no right or wrong path here.
So I’d love to hear from you:
When did you first feel the pull of the ancestors?
Was rootwork something passed down to you, or something you had to rediscover?
What brought you to this space?
Share what you’re comfortable sharing. Listen with respect. This is about connection, not comparison.
Looking forward to building community together.
