I'm Steve, your host here at the Wealth Building Collective

A little about me: I'm an American living in Melbourne, Australia. The "Frugal Expat" name actually came from my time living and traveling in Taiwan. I was living frugally, writing about travel and personal finance, and chasing the idea of financial freedom. Along the way I discovered that ETF investing was a simpler, smarter path to building real wealth than anything else I'd come across.

I run The Frugal Expat on YouTube, where I cover income ETFs, covered call strategies, dividend growth, and building portfolios that work in the real world. I hold VTI, QQQM, and QQQI personally, so everything I talk about here, I have skin in the game on.

Before all of this, I taught English in Taiwan, ran camp programs, and spent a lot of time writing about travel. Money was always something I had to figure out the hard way, without a roadmap. That's a big reason I built this community. I wanted a place where people could get real answers, not just surface-level takes.
