This could have definitely been a quick read because of how short it is, but taking it as slow as I did was actually really reflective of the overall feel of the book, and lengthened its impact on my life as I was living in the reciprocity mindset much more intentionally when I thought about this being my current read.
The concept centered around reciprocity and enough-ness, and relating this to the upcoming start of the growing season, it really spoke to how being intentional and only using or choosing to grow what I need and those around me need should be at the top of my priority list. This book had gorgeous illustrations and was the least intimidating thing to get into, also super easy to give to friends and family as a recommendation that they're more likely to actually read.
What I took away most from this book was the concept of a reciprocal economy structure, without being confined by the generic production and consumption. Including giving without expectation and exchange of energy rather than traditional currency alters our mindset in regards to what has value and what we should spend our most valuable asset - time - working towards.
I would love to hear your experience and takeaways from reading this book or other work from Wall Kimmerer as I pick which of her works to read next.
Thanks for reading! ☺️
