I had to slow the shutter speed to catch the lights but you can see hints of the lights. According to my aurora app there was only a 3% chance but I got a little lucky. Tried handheld and saw they were there so I grabbed my tripod. Not the most intense display we get around here but not bad from my front door. I tried several times to shoot the area by the house but too many cars went through during the exposure that I chose to aim the camera in a different direction. You can see the reds and purple better in the second photo. We occasionally get northern lights here. So far I’ve had to drag my shutter in order to see them. My aurora app lets me know the intensity and cloud cover. I’ve had a few health issues that interfered during the last couple times but I’m ready now. Just hope we don’t go through one of those 11 year cycles of low activity.
