We went to see the Vet last night, as YoYo had not been well for 40 hours and she had no improvement. Without eating and with little intake of water, I was becoming concerned for her, as she is now 12.5 years old.
Hello again, Mr. Lawrence.
Yoyo’s test results aren't perfect, but they are acceptable for her age.
Her alkaline phosphatase levels are elevated, and X-rays show hepatomegaly (enlarged liver); we should investigate the possibility of Cushing’s syndrome.
Chest X-rays reveal broncho-interstitial pneumonia.
She was given three injections, Antibiotics, corticosteroid anti-inflammatory, and pain meds
I am preparing a treatment for her that will be available at the clinic starting tomorrow morning, along with a gastrointestinal protectant for her diarrhoea. We will avoid long-term use of corticosteroids due to the suspected Cushing’s syndrome.
We will also need to schedule an abdominal ultrasound and possibly an echocardiogram.
If Yoyo does not improve quickly, we will need to see her again.
YoYo’s sister had Cushing's, which has no cure, and she died of internal bleeding from a tumour on her liver, so I’m concerned that she does ot have the same disease
Update Saturday morning:
I'm now back home from the vets with lots of medication and an empty wallet. She’s just eaten a tiny bit of ham ( necessary that she ate something before giving her this new medicine). So fingers crossed, as I need to give her other new meds after 1.5 hours and other new meds this evening. 🤞🐶❤️
I will be with her all day today and give her lots of love alongside all her medications ❤️🐶
