We have a couple of businesses running in our home. We started out farming, and Foot and Field was chosen as our name because we run an urban micro farm, but we never want to get bigger fields than we can walk, manage, and work with our own two feet, no tractors for us.
As part of the farming, we run a CSA, with subscribers pre-paying and picking up weekly boxes of whatever's in season on our farm. I also grow microgreens weekly, and I'm working on a project to help anyone confidently and conveniently grow their own delicious microgreens themselves in their own home.
Because this is Idaho, during the winter, it's easier to have a different job, so my husband sews clothing to sell. We only sell things we would wear, so all natural fibers, currently linen and cotton, and all clean, healthy dyes. He prefers working in woven fabric, so no stretch knits. We currently offer dresses and shorts, currently children's sizes, but we can do ladies to order, with plans to add collared shirts, first for boys, and later men.
Outside of business, we are raising and homeschooling two girls, currently 4 and 6 years old, and he works part time out at the site.
Ask away at anything I didn't say clearly enough, I'm still working out details of what people want to know when I'm introducing our work.
