Shifting our Rhythms through Collard Greens
For as long as I can remember, the way to "properly" honor greens was the long way,low and slow for hours, honoring the ancestral roots that run so deep in my kitchen. And while I will always hold space for that tradition, life lately has been calling for a different kind of alchemy.
Lately, I’ve been chiffonading my collards into delicate, vibrant ribbons sautéing them quickly with garlic, onions, and a splash of intention, then topping them with fresh, bright tomatoes.
It’s been a revelation.
I’ve realized that I don’t need to spend all day at the stove to get the deep, grounding nutrients I need. I’m finding that I can transmute the same benefits, the same nourishment, into my life by simply shifting my perspective and my process.
It’s a lesson that feels like it’s bleeding into every area of my life: I don’t have to do things the "long way" to make them count.
Whether I’m pairing them with a perfectly soft-boiled egg for a quick, potent start to my day or eating them as a foundation for a larger meal, these greens have become my reminder that I am allowed to evolve. I am allowed to modernize my methods while still keeping the heart of the tradition intact.
What’s one "traditional" way of doing things you’ve decided to modernize lately? Let’s talk about shifting our rhythms. 🥬✨
