Dogs- sometimes more present than us.
We had a bit of a turbulent week in my household as a family. I live in a small home and as soon as all the kids are here, you notice it. We had 5 adults sitting around my coffee table, pax in a down stay between my legs. And he did so well. He knows the calmer he is, the longer he can stay with us. And he aced it. And then the kids started talking about how insanely hard it would be for them to do one hour nothing. No phone. No napping. No talking. Just being present. And it's true. Truly doing nothing for an extended period of time is hard for most people these days. No dopamin hits. No distraction. And that realisation made me appreciate my dog even more. Because I'm asking that from him a lot. Just do nothing. And he is a dog that struggles to do nothing (like his mum, lol).
So Pax, it hit me today that I am having higher expectations of you than of my kids. πŸ˜‚ Not sure how I feel about that πŸ˜…
