How I became top 10% in sales
I didn’t build my sales career by sitting back and hoping people would walk up ready to buy.
For 10 years in wireless sales, I learned something most people avoid:
👉 Clients don’t just appear when you’re ready… they respond when you show up first.
I was the one pulling people into the kiosk. Starting conversations. Reading energy. Handling objections in real time.
And when they weren’t ready?
I didn’t write them off.
I put them on a list. Followed up once a week. Stayed consistent, not annoying.
Just present.
(And most of them appreciated the follow up because they wanted to switch carriers)
Because I knew timing > talent.
By the last month of my 9–5, that consistency stacked.
I had a list of people who already trusted me, already knew me…they just needed the right moment.
That month I hit $5K in commissions, not from chasing new leads…
…but from nurturing the ones everyone else forgot about.
Most people think they have a lead problem.
But really?
They have a follow-up and consistency problem.
If you’re waiting for people to be “ready” before you talk to them, you’re already behind.
The ones who win in business are the ones who:
• Start conversations early
• Stay in the room longer
• And don’t disappear when it’s not an instant “yes”
So be honest with yourself…
How many people have you already talked to that you never followed up with again?
Check in on them.
They secretly appreciate it. 😉
