🪖 Things We Don’t Do Here
Nobody joins The Last Mile because they need another course.
Most people join because they’ve become really, really good at preparing. yay!🎉
And really inconsistent at finishing.🫠
So here are a few things we don’t do here.
❌ We don’t change directions every week.
You probably have more than one good idea.
That’s okay.
For the next 14 days, we’re pretending only one of them exists.
The others will survive.
❌ We don’t over engineer systems we don’t even have a start date for.
Until you can organize your current brains, you don’t need a second brain yet.
We don’t write SOPs for processes we’ve never performed.
We don’t buy software to solve problems we haven’t experienced.
First, do the thing.
Then, document the thing.
Then, improve the thing.
Then, automate the thing.
Systems are supposed to reduce future effort, not become a substitute for taking action because we are building a system.
❌ We don’t buy things to avoid making decisions.
A new course.
A better microphone.
A prettier template.
Another AI subscription.
Sometimes these are investments.
Sometimes they’re receipts from strategic procrastination.
Be honest with yourself.
❌ We don’t plan for our ideal week.
We plan for the week we’ll probably have.
The one with interruptions.
Kids.
Travel.
Unexpected meetings.
Low energy.
And dishes.
❌ We don’t call preparation progress.
Research isn’t progress.
Organizing folders isn’t progress.
Watching videos isn’t progress.
Progress is something that exists outside your head.
✅ What we DO do. We celebrate:
Publishing a landing page.
Sending an email.
Making a decision.
Reducing scope.
Documenting a process.
Asking for help.
Admitting you avoided something.
Trying again after disappearing for three weeks.
Nobody here expects perfection.
But we do expect movement.
Small movement counts.
Ugly movement counts.
Late movement counts.
Let’s become people who reliably finish things.
