The creator of Velcro got the idea after walking his dog.
In 1941, Swiss engineer George de Mestral noticed burrs clinging to his dog's fur.
Curious, he looked at them under a microscope and saw tiny hooks that latched onto loops in the fur.
That inspired him to invent Velcro — a hook-and-loop fastener that would later generate millions in revenue and be used everywhere from shoes to NASA space suits.
