Daily Giveback 0133 - The Forge…
Imagine you go to God in prayer.
And you say, God. I want to be courageous.
And God says…
Then I will send you monsters.
Monsters that will terrify you. That will make you question everything you thought you were made of. So that when you conquer them, and you will conquer them, courage won’t just be something you admire. It will be something you own.
You say, God. I want to be patient.
And God says…
Then nothing will come easy.
You will work longer than you planned. Wait longer than you wanted. And right when you think it’s finally your season, you’ll wait some more. Because patience isn’t built in the harvest. It’s built in the field.
You say, God. I want to be wise.
And God says…
Then you will fail.
Not once. Not quietly. The kind of failure that crushes your spirit and makes you wonder if you ever had what it takes. Because wisdom isn’t taught in a classroom. It’s carved out of your worst mistakes.
Then you stop.
And you say… God. That sounds like a really hard life.
Can you just give me a good life?
And God gets quiet for a moment.
And then He says…
You are asking the wrong question.
A blacksmith is not measured by how clean his shop is. He is measured by the strength of his steel. And steel is not made in comfort. It is made in fire. It is made under the hammer. Over and over and over again until what remains is something that cannot be broken.
That is how I measure you.
Not by the fire. Not by the hammer.
By what you are when I am done.
The Apostle James said it this way.
Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Not comfortable. Not celebrated. Complete.
So here is what I need you to understand.
A good life is not an easy life.
A good life makes you into a good person.
And that always comes through a hard life.
Here is the shift I need you to make today.
Stop evaluating the work by the outcome.
Start evaluating the work by who it is making you.
Because God’s works work on you more than you work on them.
That means every assignment He gives you is profitable.
Even if the business fails, you are being built.
Even if the relationship ends, you are being built.
Even if you go bankrupt, start over, lose what you thought was yours…
You are being built.
The work you do in faith is never wasted. Even if everything around it gets destroyed, what happened inside you is eternal. That cannot be taken. That cannot burn.
So the question is not whether the path is hard.
The question is whether you are willing to be the raw material.
Because most people want to be the finished product.
But God is looking for people who will stay in the fire long enough to become one.
