01 – My first Secret…
You must actually care about people. In order to care, you need to know what they care about. What is their vision? If they don’t have one, see how they feel about helping you achieve yours. How can they fit in? Can they fit in? Ask and you shall receive. – Matthew 7:7
Every day is filled with mysteries, both small and large, waiting to be unraveled by the curious and the faithful. But the deepest secrets of life—the ones that guide us toward true fulfillment—often require divine revelation. They are not hidden from us because God wants to keep them from us, but because He desires us to seek Him. In that pursuit, we learn not just what to ask for, but how to ask, and more importantly, why we ask.
The Power of Asking
Jesus’ words resonate as a foundational truth: “Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and the door shall be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). This promise is both simple and profound, calling us to a deeper engagement with God. It reminds us that God is not distant or unapproachable; He is ready to reveal His wisdom and guidance to those who earnestly seek it. Similarly, Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call to me and I will answer you, and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
But how often do we go through life without asking, without seeking, without knocking? How often do we assume we know the answers, or worse, believe the answers don’t exist at all?
God’s Secrets Are for Us
The truth is, God has secrets—secrets meant for us, secrets that can unlock parts of ourselves and our lives that have yet to be discovered. But there’s a catch: we must be willing to ask for them. And not just ask in the fleeting moments when desperation strikes or when we face a fork in the road, but ask daily, with intention and humility.
  • James 1:5: "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
  • Psalm 25:4-5: "Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."
To care about people—truly care—is one of the most profound lessons God teaches us. And it starts with understanding that people are complex, filled with hopes, dreams, fears, and desires that shape their actions and their decisions. Yet, how often do we pause to truly ask God to show us what others care about?
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
  • Philippians 2:4: "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
Too often, we navigate relationships without seeking this deeper knowledge, skimming the surface of connection instead of diving deep into the hearts of those around us. But when we ask God to reveal the secrets of others—their struggles, their hopes, their unique visions—something remarkable happens. We begin to see them not just as individuals we encounter, but as souls with divine purposes, just like our own.
The Act of Daily Seeking
Asking for God’s secrets isn’t a one-time event. It’s not something we do only when we’re lost or when we need a divine nudge in a specific direction. It’s something that should become part of our daily rhythm, like prayer or reading scripture. Each day presents new challenges, new opportunities, and new relationships, all of which carry with them hidden truths that can shape our lives if we allow them to.
  • Proverbs 8:17: "I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me."
  • Colossians 3:16: "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly... as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."
When we rise each morning and ask God, “What secret do you have for me today?” we open ourselves up to wisdom beyond our own understanding. Sometimes these secrets come as gentle nudges in our spirit, or as a sudden clarity in a difficult situation. Other times, they are revealed through others—through a conversation, a book, or even a song. But the key is to ask.
  • Psalm 119:18: "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law."
  • Isaiah 30:21: "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'"
As we continue to ask God to reveal His secrets, something powerful happens: we begin to align ourselves with His will. The secrets He shares are not just for our benefit but for the benefit of the people around us and for the greater good of His kingdom. As we seek His guidance, we find that we become instruments of His love and wisdom in ways we never anticipated.
  • Romans 12:2: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
  • Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
In seeking God’s secrets daily, we become more attuned to His voice, more sensitive to the needs of others, and more aware of our own role in His plan. This is the power of asking—not just for ourselves, but for the sake of those we are called to serve.
  • John 10:27: "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
  • 1 Samuel 3:10: "The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, 'Samuel! Samuel!' Then Samuel said, 'Speak, for your servant is listening.'"
God’s secrets are always available, but it is up to us to ask, to seek, and to knock. When we do, He is faithful to open the door, to reveal what we need to know, and to guide us forward in love, care, and purpose.
This is just the beginning of a journey into the importance of asking God to reveal His secrets. When we make this a daily practice, our lives can be transformed, and we can help transform the lives of others in the process.
