Itās a Green Light! š
Your brain isnāt always trying to help you grow. Sometimes itās trying to help you stay safe.
I was having a conversation with one of my daughters, Hannah tonight after sheād applied for a new job.
A job she genuinely wants.
A job that could be a positive step forward.
A job that would get her out of a workplace she no longer enjoys.
Yet within minutes, her brain had already produced a list of reasons why it might not work.
What if the extra hours are too much?
What if the parking costs too much?
What if I canāt handle the change?
What if Iām making a mistake?
And honestly?
I think weāve all been there.
The funny thing is, our brains arenāt necessarily trying to sabotage us.
Theyāre trying to protect us.
Because your brain loves what is familiar, even when whatās familiar is making you miserable.
It would often rather keep you in a situation you dislike than risk stepping into something unknown.
The problem is that growth, opportunity, new friendships, new careers, new businesses and new adventures all live on the other side of āIāve never done this before.ā
If youāre standing at the edge of a decision right now and your brain is throwing every possible worst-case scenario at you, it doesnāt automatically mean youāre making the wrong choice.
Sometimes it simply means youāre doing something brave.
š Whatās one thing youāve done recently that scared you a little but turned out to be exactly what you needed?
