It feels weird posting in a group where I am the only person here, but here we are!
I turned 57 yesterday, and I'm on a bit of a mission this year to get my athletic performance back on track after focusing on strength and fat loss for a few months, so 3 weeks ago I began the free New To Running Plan on Runna.
Today was the final run for week three, and while I have a lot of work to do, I am really enjoying it.
My fastest ever 5K time was around 26 minutes, but we're talking a long time ago.
Goal 1 is to run 5K in however long it takes.
Next goal is to get it under 30 minutes.
Then I would LOVE to work towards getting my 5K under 25 minutes.
Seems doable with consistency and a plan.
I'm lifting 4 x week (2 upper / 2 lower), and I walk most days for around 6km, and when I run, I throw that into the first portion of my daily walk and walk the rest.
I'm battling an SIJ issue and am having physio as we speak, but so far I'm still ok to run, so fingers crossed that continues.
We're heading into the cooler months here in Melbourne, and this has typically tested my resolve but just putting it out there will help keep me accountable.
