When all the world’s asleep
I take a trip down memory lane
With tears upon my cheeks
No one knows the heart ache
I’ve tried so hard to hide
No one knows how many times
I’ve broken down and cried
I cry because I love you
I cry because I care
I cry because when I a-wake
I know you won’t be there
This was written by a long term inmate who was in my Personal Development class. A care leaver, an addict, a neurodiverse learner with next to no schooling.
