Absolute Charters for Orgs. Incorporated Under the NYS Education Dept. (NYSED)
An absolute charter is a permanent incorporation granted when an organization has met all of the NYS Education Department standards, under the Board of Regents.
To qualify, the organization must demonstrate a proven record of financial stability, programmatic accomplishment, and public service aligned with its educational mission.
An absolute charter signifies full recognition by the Board of Regents as a permanent education corporation.
Organizations holding an absolute charter may state publicly that they are "Chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York."
Absolute chartered organizations are subject to ongoing reporting and regulatory oversight by the Regents, including submitting annual reports.
