Our Philosophy of Practice
Every community develops its own way of seeing. This is ours.
These aren't rules to memorize or boxes to fit into. They're the principles that guide how we approach tarot, how we learn together, and how we walk beside one another.
We practice attention.
Before we interpret, we observe.
We notice symbols, patterns, relationships, emotions, and questions before reaching for meanings.
Tarot begins with seeing, not knowing.
1. We choose curiosity over certainty.
Tarot is not about finding the "right" answer.
It's about asking better questions.
We stay open, explore possibilities, and allow meaning to emerge rather than forcing conclusions.
2. We trust relationship over memorization.
Books are valuable.
Teachers are valuable.
Experience is invaluable.
The cards become meaningful through relationship, reflection, and practice - not by memorizing definitions.
Your relationship with the deck matters more than anyone else's interpretation.
3. We practice discernment.
Tarot isn't here to replace your judgment.
It's here to strengthen it.
We learn to think with tarot rather than asking it to think for us.
4. Nothing human is unwelcome here.
Joy.
Fear.
Grief.
Anger.
Hope.
Confusion.
Shadow.
All of it belongs.
Growth doesn't come from pretending difficult parts of ourselves don't exist. It comes from meeting them with honesty.
5. We honor the person before the reading.
This is a trauma-informed community.
We never use tarot to shame, manipulate, frighten, or diminish another person's agency.
People matter more than interpretations.
Always.
6. Your voice belongs here.
You don't need decades of experience to participate.
You don't need permission to notice something others missed.
Questions are welcome.
Different perspectives are welcome.
Respectful disagreement is welcome.
This community grows because many voices contribute to the conversation.
7. We practice with integrity.
If we don't know, we say we don't know.
If something is uncertain, we leave room for uncertainty.
We don't perform certainty simply because it sounds convincing.
Integrity will always matter more than appearing knowledgeable.
8. We are here to practice.
Not to impress.
Not to collect meanings.
Not to become the "best" reader.
We are here to observe more deeply, ask better questions, trust ourselves more fully, and become wiser through the practice of tarot.
That work is never finished.
Neither are we.
9. The Lantern
The lantern doesn't tell you which path to walk.
It simply helps you see where you're standing.
The path has always been yours.
We'll walk beside you while you discover it.
