Live Q/A Video Playback
Thank you so much for joining tonight's live Q/A. I appreciate the questions sent in by the community. Here is the replay and the actual questions answered, as always, let me know if you have any questions
Here are 20 things every new homeschool mom deserves to hear:
  1. “What if I am not qualified to homeschool?”
You do not need a teaching degree to teach your child. You need commitment, patience, strategy, and the willingness to learn alongside them. Nobody knows your child better than you do. Stop disqualifying yourself before you even start. Most homeschool moms are overthinking instead of taking action.
  1. “How many hours a day do I actually need to homeschool?”
Probably way less than you think. Homeschooling does not have to look like public school at home. Most new homeschool moms are trying to recreate a system they left. Focus on consistency, connection, and intentional learning instead of dragging lessons out all day.
  1. “What curriculum should I buy first?”
Before you buy curriculum, learn your child. That is the mistake almost every new homeschool mom makes. You do not need twelve programs and a color coded bookshelf. You need clarity on your child’s learning style, your lifestyle, and your goals.
  1. “What if my child falls behind?”
Behind who?
That is the real question.
Homeschooling allows you to teach at your child’s pace instead of forcing them into a one size fits all system. Some children need more time. Some need less. Growth matters more than comparison.
  1. “Can I homeschool while working from home?”
Absolutely. Is it always easy? No. But it is possible with structure, realistic expectations, and systems that fit your real life. Stop building your homeschool around perfection and start building it around sustainability.
  1. “How do I know if homeschooling is the right decision?”
If you cannot stop thinking about it, researching it, praying about it, or worrying about your child’s current situation, that matters. Most moms already know something needs to change long before they move.
  1. “What if my family does not support homeschooling?”
Respectfully, they are not raising your child every day.
A lot of people will project their fears onto you because homeschooling challenges what they believe is “normal.” You do not need everybody to understand your decision for it to still be the right one.
  1. “Do homeschool children socialize?”
Yes. And honestly, many homeschool children socialize better because they interact with multiple age groups and real world environments instead of being stuck in one room with thirty same age peers all day.
  1. “What if I lose patience?”
You will sometimes.
You are human.
Homeschooling will expose areas where you need healing, structure, boundaries, and self care too. This is why I constantly tell moms that homeschooling is not just educational. It is personal growth too.
  1. “Do I need a strict schedule?”
No. You need rhythm.
Schedules should support your home, not suffocate it. Some families thrive with structure down to the minute. Others need flexibility. Education is not linear.
  1. “What subjects do I legally have to teach?”
That depends on your state, which is why understanding homeschool laws matters. But do not panic. Most states simply want proof that education is happening consistently. This is why strategy matters more than fear.
  1. “What if my child hates homeschooling at first?”
That is normal sometimes, especially if they are transitioning from traditional school. Many children need time to decompress, rest, and mentally reset. Do not mistake adjustment periods for failure.
  1. “How do I homeschool multiple ages?”
You stop trying to do everything separately.
Family style learning, independent work, life skills, read alouds, and routines will save your sanity. Homeschool moms burn out trying to become six different teachers at once.
  1. “What if I make the wrong choice?”
There is no perfect educational path.
Public school is not perfect.Private school is not perfect.Homeschooling is not perfect.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is intentional decision making that supports your child and your family.
  1. “Will homeschooling ruin my relationship with my child?”
Not if you build your homeschool around connection instead of control.
A lot of moms accidentally recreate school pressure at home. Your home should feel safe, supportive, and emotionally healthy, not like a constant performance review.
  1. “What supplies do I actually need to start?”
Honestly?Way less than TikTok told you.
Start simple:Paper.Pencils.Books.A basic plan.Consistency.
Do not financially overwhelm yourself trying to buy an aesthetic homeschool life.
  1. “What if I struggle with consistency?”
Most moms do not struggle with consistency. They struggle with overwhelm.
You are trying to do too much, too fast, all at once. Simplify your systems and your homeschool will immediately feel lighter.
  1. “Can homeschooling really work long term?”
I have homeschooled for 18 years.
So yes.
But homeschooling works best when moms stop chasing perfection and start building systems that fit their actual family life.
  1. “What if I need help?”
Then get support.
That is exactly why communities matter. Homeschooling was never meant to feel isolating or confusing. You do not have to figure everything out alone before you begin.
  1. “What is the biggest thing new homeschool moms need to understand?”
You do not need to become somebody else to homeschool successfully.
You do not need to become a Pinterest mom. A perfect teacher.A curriculum expert.
You just need to become intentional, informed, and confident enough to trust yourself one step at a time.
That is the real shift.
Mama, if you have been sitting on the fence, silently overthinking, scared to start, or feeling like everybody else has it figured out except you…
Take a deep breath.
You got this!
