When I First Started
When I first started in AV, I worked with a lot of disrespectful, egotistical people who treated me like an idiot for not knowing what they knew. It almost made me quit the event industry.
And while I think the industry has gotten a lot better at rooting these people out, they still exist. But I don’t want new people to have the rough initial experience I did. And I think if a community like this existed back then, I wouldn’t have considered quitting, because I would have had support and access to learning resources.
And that is my hope for others because the event industry can be really wonderful when we all treat each other with respect and remember that we all were green newcomers once upon a time.
