30 line challenge. The Long Way Around
Some people think life moves in straight lines like highways cutting through flat land.
Mine has always been a mountain road with switchbacks and gravel and fog that hides the next turn.
I’ve broken things I meant to keep and held on to things that were already gone.
But the strange thing about living is that it keeps asking you forward.
The sun still shows up even when you don’t feel ready for it.
A dog still waits at the door, like hope with a heartbeat.
Coffee still steams in the morning, like the world hasn’t given up on you yet.
I’ve learned the quiet victories matter most.
Getting up again. Answering the phone. Writing the words anyway.
No one really tells you how many times you’ll start over.
But maybe starting over is just another word for courage.
And maybe the long road was the right one all along.
