Testing Open-Source Models
Alright guys, I’ve been teasing that I’d be testing Kimi 2.5, GLM, and MiniMax, but honestly I was trying to figure out the best way to get the most value while trying these models.
I thought about using Opencode when it was free, but I missed the window to try Kimi. Then the GLM subscription price literally increased the day I got paid 💀.
I recently came across Synthetic.new, a smaller company that provides access to these models. They were advertising up to 6× Claude usage even on their lowest $20 subscription. I joined the waiting list and finally got access today.
Apparently the 6× usage wasn’t sustainable for them anymore, but I’m still curious to see how these models perform on their platform. I’ll test everything out and report back soon.
If you want to check it out too, here’s my referral code for $10 off your first month.
