I should probably give you the sauce on how I did that.
So here’s how to craft email subject lines that actually get opened,
Even when your cat tries to stop you. πŸ˜‚
1. SL and PV combo.
SL = subject line.
PV = preview text.
That little bit of the email you see next to the subject line is the preview text.
Use the SL to grab attention or hint at value,
And the PV to add even more intrigue that forces people to open.
Almost no one uses the preview text,
So start taking advantage of it in your copy.
2. Pattern disrupt.
If your subject lines are snooze-worthy,
Your emails are getting ignored faster than you can blink.
So instead of just using bland copy,
(Example: 3 tips to get clients)
You write something different to stop the reader in their tracks.
The subject line of this email is a perfect example.
Have some fun while writing.
3. Short and sweet.
Keep your subject lines a maximum of 40 characters long.
Anything more than that and it’ll get cut off on some mobile screen sizes.
People won’t be able to read the whole subject line,
Will get confused on what you’re talking about,
And ultimately end up ignoring the email.
Shortening your SL is an easy fix that makes a huge difference in open rates.
