How Much Salary Are You Looking For?
It’s the question we all know is coming. Sometimes it’s asked in the first screening call. Other times it shows up on the job application form.
Either way, it’s important to answer it with confidence and clarity.
But here’s the thing >> Salary isn’t just a number.
It reflects:
  • The value of your skills and experience
  • The responsibilities you’ll take on
  • The cost of living and work arrangement
  • The market demand for your role
  • And yes, your own goals and needs
So, How Much Am I Looking For?
You can use this template below to answer it:
"Right now, I’m looking for a total compensation in the range of xxxxx, depending on:
  • The scope of the role
  • The team and growth opportunities
  • Benefits (healthcare, remote options, bonuses, etc.)
  • Company culture and mission
This range is based on market research, my years of experience, and the skills I bring to the table.
I’m also open to discussing it further if there’s mutual interest because a good match goes beyond just numbers."
So many job seekers hesitate to talk about salary.
I get it!! We don’t want to price ourselves out or sell ourselves short. But transparency helps everyone.
Being honest about salary early on saves time, sets expectations, and leads to better conversations for both candidates and employers.
If you’re job hunting >> do you share your salary expectations early, or wait until later?
