Let Yourself Cry
We are taught to hold it together.
To be strong.
To stay calm.
To say, “I’m fine.”
To move on quickly.
But sometimes, you don’t need to hold it in anymore.
You need to let yourself cry.
Not because you’re weak.
Because you’ve been carrying a lot.
Maybe it’s sadness you’ve been avoiding.
Maybe it’s anger.
Maybe it’s disappointment.
Maybe you don’t even know why you’re crying.
You don’t always need to understand the emotion before allowing yourself to feel it.
Find a safe space.
Put your phone away.
Close your eyes.
Take a few slow breaths.
And if the tears come, let them come.
Don’t judge yourself for feeling.
Don’t rush to wipe the tears away.
Just stay with yourself.
You don’t have to be strong every minute of every day.
Sometimes taking care of yourself means finally giving yourself permission to feel what you’ve been holding inside.
