If you’re feeling depressed, something that has always helped me get out of a funk is remembering this:
The things I don’t want to do — go to the gym, clean the house, get things done — are usually the exact things that will help shift my energy.
I remind myself that if I just get up and do them, I’m never going to regret it. In fact, those things almost always make me feel a little better.
But when I allow the depression to keep me down and I don’t do anything, I usually end up feeling worse… because now I’m also thinking about everything I didn’t get done.
Sometimes the goal isn’t to feel amazing right away.
Sometimes the goal is just to move your body and shift your state a little bit.
One small action can change the momentum of your whole day.
